Honey's Halloween Howl

Okay, so Honey (Amelia's grandma) didn't actually call it Honey's Halloween Howl, but I thought it had a nice ring to it.  We had a nice surprise of Bobby and Sara coming into town to visit for the weekend so Honey quickly put together an awesome Halloween party.  We all pitched in and it was so much fun.

To start, Honey invited a special witch to make witches brew and it was yummy.  Honey also made this delicious stew that topped mashed potatoes.  It was so good, she doesn't really have a recipe but I watched her make it and can maybe duplicate it.  It's such a bummer that Pat doesn't like potatoes because I might be making this like every week this winter!

After supper, the kids all did a scavenger hunt led by Marianne to find some treat bags.  Millie liked hers a lot, she went into the other room away from everybody else to enjoy her goodies.  Then we frosted some sugar cookies (that was my part).  Usually a double batch of sugar cookies lasts a long time, these were gone in like two seconds.  We've got such a big family now!

Amelia's favorite part came next - balloon ghosts.  Whitney brought white balloons for everybody and they got glow sticks in their treat bags.  We put the glow sticks in the balloons, blew them up and drew ghost faces on them.  Then we turned off the lights and watched them glow while Ben read a spooky story.  Millie liked this so much that she was a little bit of a distraction.  She stood in front of everyone during the story and wouldn't stop shaking her balloon.

Oh boy, the activities go on.  After story time, we went downstairs and had a costume contest.  We had some pretty crazy dress-ups going on, the boys ended up dressing like princesses, milk maids and one super scary Corbin (Millie was a bit scared of him).  Samantha was a punky french girl and Millie ended up being a super hero chicken.  Honestly, at this point in the evening, I don't know what she was running on but she was just a good little girl.  We were lucky since she hadn't been sleeping well (no exaggeration, really she'd probably slept for like 3 hours total in the past 24 hours - bah!)  I think she was a bit dazed and after the the costume contest and donut eating contest, she went straight to bed and slept for 13 hours straight - Ahhhhhhh, that was so nice.

Last but not least, here is the totally awesome Halloween costume that Marianne made for her dad.  Serious props need to go to her, it looked like it took some major work and now Poppy (Millie's grandpa) can go trick or treating with all his grandkids - FUN!!!

Anyway, such a fun Halloween party, thanks to Honey and Poppy for putting it together for all of us.  Stay tuned for more Halloween posts and costumes!  Yahoo - Halloween is the BEST!
